A Little History on Jim Barkett
I have been a student and practitioner of personal leadership and organizational development since my mid-20’s when I started Golden Eagle Leadership in 1982. During those early years I was honored to work with hundreds of management teams to help them improve their performance, productivity, sales, and profitability. For these results I earned Leadership Management Inc.’s prestigious President’s Club Award
Due to family circumstances, I put my leadership development business on hold to help run our family’s business alongside my brothers. Barkett Fruit Company, Inc. was a wholesale fresh produce distributor based in Dover, OH. Barkett Fruit was founded by my grandfather and great grandfather in 1924. We sold Barkett Fruit in 2015, and after assisting with the transition, I re-opened my business as Barkett Leadership Group.
With my sales and management training experience, as well as 35 years in all the various leadership roles necessary to grow a family business, I am prepared to help owners and leaders identify and overcome bottlenecks that delay desired objectives. We assist with improving productivity and results by recommending and implementing necessary solutions.
Brikel Vanderwerf
Client Relations Assistant
Brikel recently transitioned from a five-year career in the Marine Corps, where she specialized in flying drones stationed in Hawaii. Originally from Massillon, Ohio, Brikel is now embarking on a new chapter as a Client Relations Assistant with our team.
In this role, Brikel will leverage her exceptional organizational skills and keen attention to detail to enhance client interactions and ensure a seamless experience for all Jim’s clients

As a Client Relations Assistant, Brikel will:
- Manage client communications and maintain positive relationships.
- Coordinate and schedule meetings and events to ensure timely and effective interactions.
- Assist in resolving client issues and providing timely solutions.
- Support the development and implementation of client engagement strategies.
- Contribute to team projects with a focus on improving client satisfaction.
